Takes off when by I go.
Black bird, a full stop on a blank page,
Rests on a branch and caws!
Leaves peering, sleepy -eyed, through the white blanket,
Promising of Spring and warmer climes.
Biting wind against my face,
Reminding me that I am alive!
Trails scar the virgin snow,
Where they go,
I don’t know.
Winter is monochrome;
Summer full of colour.
Drifts like waves, surfing the snow, like dolphins skimming the sea,
Surfacing to kiss the glittering show.
Birdsong seems louder against the white backdrop, only marked by a brush of grass
Blue and white,
Black and green
In the wonderful winter snow scene.
