It amazes me how I have been transformed by the sacrifice Christ paid on the cross for my sin. I am no different from anyone else, Jesus made this sacrifice for you too, you only have to believe and say a short prayer.
The Bible tells us that we have “all sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) and that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).
What is incredible about Easter is that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
This means that Jesus “is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:2 NIV).
“Through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. …” (Colossians 1:20).
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1).
However, “how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3). The answer is as Jesus said: “Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” (Luke 9:24).
So what must you do to be saved? “Repent, therefore, of your wickedness..” (Acts 8: 22) and “believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.” (Acts 16:31).
“Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.” (Romans 6:13).
The reason we are transformed is because “if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:&). How awesome it is that!
Whether you believe now or not, one day “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Phillippians 2:11).
What is the Sinner’s Prayer?
It is a prayer you say to repent of your sins and ask for God’s forgiveness. In it you declare that you believe that Jesus died for your sins and was raised to life after three days.
For “if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10).
An example of the Sinner’s Prayer is this one by Dr. Ray Pritchard. Read it today aloud and if you mean it, you will be saved.
“Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.”
