New Year Prayer

Window to 2015

Dear God, Almighty and Loving Lord,

As 2014 ends and 2015 begins, we thank you for protecting us, healing us and forgiving us of all of our sins.

Where people have lost their loved ones, we ask you to draw close and comfort them. Where people are sick or injured, we ask you to heal them. Where people are trapped by addiction, obsessions or their own weaknesses, please set them free to be all you created them to be. Feed the hungry and give the thirsty a drink.

We know that ‘all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,’ (Romans 3:23 (KJ)) but you are a good and merciful God and forgive us. Help us to forgive others. Touch our hearts to make us your instruments so we willingly help the poor and afflicted. Set us free from our own selfish ambitions and desires. Let your light, your Word, Your Spirit shine in this dark, desperate world.

Let 2015 be a year when people seek you and find you. Help them not be led astray by false doctrines. Let the terrorist plots be found out before they can take effect, let men stop destroying the natural beauty you created and let people act promptly when warned in advance about natural disasters. Help people to stop abusing others. Prick the conscious of those who take advantage of fellow human beings and protect the weak, innocent and lonely. Help the medical experts find a cure for Ebola and other diseases thought to be incurable, because we know ‘nothing is impossible with God’ (Luke1:37 (NLT)).

Give man a greater desire to care for his environment and the animals and people that live in it. Give us the foresight to consider what we are leaving for future generations. Unite Your people and fill us with Your love.

We especially pray for your people who are suffering due to persecution or who are imprisoned because of their beliefs. We believe that the miracles performed in Acts can be performed by You today. Please perform miracles in 2015 to reveal yourself to a society which takes your name in vain.

‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He delights in his way.

‘Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholds him with His hand.’ (Psalm 37:23-24 (King James 2000).

Let our steps be ordered by You this year so You can delight in our way. Please bless our family, friends and business associates with wealth, good health and happiness in 2015.

In Jesus name we ask it,

Amen.
