The Test of True Love

I haven’t written a blog for ages because I have been speechless. Not because I didn’t know what to say on a subject that has been dominating the news both in the UK and USA, but rather how to say it without causing offence. I have been frightened of writing something that might be held against me forevermore. You see I have strong views about what the Bible says on various matters and I try my best to live by the Word, ‘but we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God’ and ‘the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak’. One day we will all be judged on what we have said and would writing about my views change anything? I doubt it.

After hours of prayful thinking, I’ve been led to hold my tongue. Jesus said ‘love your neighbour as yourself’ and ‘cause not your brother to stumble’. The more I have thought about it, the more my views have mellowed. God has assigned Jesus as judge, not me.

The most important thing is God’s amazing grace and that He loved the world so much He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die for us, because ‘the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 6:22-23). Whoever believes that He died for their sins instead of them will live forever. Now that is TRUE LOVE.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 says: ‘If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.’

I thank the Lord for His grace and for sending his son to die for me, a sinner, and hold my tongue in an act of love and in the hope that others too may be saved.

  1. Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are
you using for this site? I’m getting fed up of WordPress
because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for
another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

  2. Hi Sally, Good to see your back again. Decisions are very hard
to make. I also have had a problem about an action I needed to take.
That problem I resolved to take it last Sunday I did and set matters going. It was not one I liked and now I am looking to see if it was/is the right one,
I thought that of which I needed to speak of would sound like a
clanging cymbal. It was one I have needed make for some years now and I trust that having made it this was done IN LOVE.
Many friends will get to hear about it in time.
